Cebu Pacific cancels flights to mainland China as precaution against spread of coronavirus

Cebu Pacific announces on February 1 that it will temporarily cancel its flights between the Philippines and mainland China, while reducing flights to Hong Kong and Macau amid the Wuhan coronavirus global emergency.  
Masusing nakikipag-ugnayan ngayon sa government health authorities ang pamunuan ng Cebu Pacific matapos makumpirmang naging pasahero nito ang babaeng dayuhan na nagpositibo sa Novel Coronavirus (nCoV).

Sa official statement na inilabas ngayong Sabado, February 1, tiniyak ng Cebu Pacific na masusi itong nakikipag-coordinate ngayon sa Department of Health (DOH) at Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) tungkol sa mga kinakailangang pag-iingat.

Ito ay makaraang kumpirmahin ng DOH nitong Huwebes, January 30, ang unang kaso ng nCoV sa bansa.

Isang 38-anyos na babaeng Chinese ang nagpositibo sa nCoV, na idineklara ng World Health Organization (WHO) bilang isang global emergency.

Ayon sa DOH, nanggaling ang pasyente sa Wuhan—ang ground zero ng nCoV—sa China, at nagtungo sa Hong Kong

Dumating ang babae sa Pilipinas nitong January 1, at nagpunta sa Cebu at Dumaguete, ‘tsaka bumiyahe sa Metro Manila.

Sinabi rin ng DOH na kabilang sa mga ginamit na transportasyon ng dayuhan ang Cebu Pacific.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Sa pahayag ng Cebu Pacific, sinabi nitong nakikipag-ugnayan na sila sa lahat ng pasaherong naupo malapit sa pasyenteng nCoV-positive.

Hinimok ang mga naturang pasahero na magpasuri sakaling may mga flu-like symptoms.

Dagdag pa ng airline company, naipaalam na sa mga piloto at cabin crew ng mga apektadong flights ang tungkol sa pasyente, at walang sintomas ng pagkakasakit ang mga ito.

Sumailalim na rin sa masusing disinfection ang eroplanong sinakyan ng pasyente, ayon sa Cebu Pacific.

Upang maiwasan ang panganib ng infection, sinabi ng Cebu Pacific na magpapatupad ito ng mga preventive measures sa lahat ng empleyado at pasahero nito.


CEBU PACIFIC CANCELS ALL FLIGHTS TO CHINA

Kaugnay nito, simula sa February 3, 2020 hanggang sa March 29, 2020 ay kinansela ang lahat ng biyahe nito sa mainland China (Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzen).

Babawasan naman ang mga biyahe sa Hong Kong, at Macau.

Ayon sa kumpanya, naipaalam na sa mga apektadong pasahero ang tungkol sa mga nakanselang flights.
Narito ang kabuuan ng pahayag ng Cebu Pacific:

“Cebu Pacific is working closely with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) on the necessary actions after the identification of the 38-year old Chinese female passenger confirmed to be positive with the Novel Coronavirus (NCoV) who took Cebu Pacific flights last January 21, 2020.

“We are in the process of contacting passengers seated in the vicinity of the positive NCoV patient and are taking the necessary precautions to inform them so they can have themselves checked in case they show flu-like symptoms.

“The cabin crew and pilots on affected flights have also been informed and show no symptoms of illness.

“The aircraft used for both flights have been pulled out of the line and are undergoing thorough disinfection.

“To reduce the risk of infection across all of our flights, we are implementing preventive measures, which include:

“1. Cleaning and disinfection of aircraft in between flights.

“2. Wearing of face masks by our employees, frontline personnel and cabin crew while on duty.

“3. Providing face masks to passengers who show symptoms of illness. When possible, isolation of passengers who manifest symptoms of illness in empty rows inside the aircraft during the flight.

“4. Coordination with health authorities in case there are passengers suspected of NCoV contamination for immediate turn-over and further observation.

“In light of developments related to the Wuhan Coronavirus, Cebu Pacific will be cancelling all flights between the Philippines and mainland China (Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzen) from February 3 to March 29, 2020.

“Flights between the Philippines, Hong Kong and Macau, on the other hand, have been reduced.

“Passengers affected by flight cancellations have been notified through the contact details provided upon booking.

"They may also check the status of their flights through the Manage Booking portal in the Cebu Pacific website, https://book.cebupacificair.com/Manage/Retrieve/.
“The following options are made available for passengers on cancelled flights:

“Rebook the flight (new flight date within 30 days of original travel date), fefund the tickets in full, store the value of the ticket in a Travel Fund for future use.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank our passengers for their understanding.

“We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.”
